New report showcases Biochar’s role in climate-smart agriculture.

The tropics hold a wealth of untapped potential when it comes to carbon removal. Techniques like Biochar and Enhanced Rock Weathering are credible, field-ready solutions already tackling intersecting challenges related to agricultural emissions, land and soil degradation, and food security.

A new report, Unlocking the Future of Climate-Smart Agriculture, by Tom Mills, supported by Stripe Climate and Carbon Gap, dives into the roles Biochar carbon removal and Enhanced Rock Weathering can be woven into global south agricultural value chains.

Planboo is proud to have contributed to this publication by showcasing our pilot with Better Cotton in India. Together, we’re exploring how Biochar can be used as an insetting solution to strengthen cotton farming while capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere. The pilot aims to develop scalable models for integrating Biochar carbon removal into cotton supply chains – improving yields and resilience, addressing Scope 3 emissions, and supporting progress toward SBTi FLAG reduction and removal targets.
