Stockholm, Sweden, June 2025 – Planboo, a climate technology startup enabling Biochar Carbon Removal projects in the Tropics, has been selected as a Climate Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Climate Leadership Portfolio. As part of the partnership, the global strategic consulting firm has signed a three-year offtake agreement, facilitated by Patch, to purchase 2,067 tonnes of Biochar Carbon Removal credits from Planboo’s Thailand Project.
This marks a significant milestone for Planboo in its mission to become the digital partner of choice for scaling high-integrity and inclusive Biochar Carbon Removal projects in the Tropics.

Turning bamboo waste into climate and community benefit
The credits purchased by Oliver Wyman come from WongPhai’s community-led Biochar project in Thailand’s Prachinburi Province, where waste from local bamboo production—typically burned in the open—is instead transformed into stable carbon through Biochar. The project not only removes CO₂ but also improves local air quality and creates new income opportunities, especially for women and elderly members of the community.
Verified impact at every step of the lifecycle
Planboo’s digital MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) platform plays a key role in ensuring project integrity. With over 300 data points tracked across the entire value chain, from biomass sourcing to Biochar application, the platform ensures radical transparency and accountability.
These data-driven insights also fuel the development of Planboo’s growing network of Biochar producers across the Tropics, enabling a shared understanding of best practices and driving continuous improvement.
